Introducing Wolterton Park's new owners

We would like to warmly welcome Wolterton Park’s new owners, Richard Ellis and his family.
 
Playing an integral part in Norfolk, Richard and his late wife Lesley set up Norfolk Country Cottages in 1992 and grew it into one of the largest self-catering cottage agencies in the UK – Original Cottages – before selling in 2022.
 
The family has a long history of community involvement and philanthropy and the business has an enviable reputation as an employer.
 
Richard can trace his family roots in Norfolk back to 1708, not as landed gentry but mostly as master craftsmen such as tailors and silversmiths. As well as a notable seafarer and more recently a much-loved local naturalist, Ted Ellis, Richard’s late uncle.

Richard has three sons, a daughter and five grandchildren, with another on the way. All the family are very excited by the acquisition of the Wolterton Park estate.

Richard says: “We were presented with an incredible opportunity to take the renaissance of Wolterton Park forward as the next era for our family.
 
We plan to inject our combined energy, experience and investment to complete the visionary master plan laid out by Peter and Keith and are pleased to be keeping on all of the great team that Peter and Keith assembled. So it is very much business as usual for Wolterton Park.”

Bookings now being taken
Wolterton Park remains as North Norfolk’s leading holiday, events and exclusive stays destination. And the amazing legacy that Peter and Keith have developed over the last seven years will be continued through the continued restoration of the Estate Yard, Peach House, Stable Yard and Pond Cottages.  
 
Bookings for holiday properties, events, private tours and stately hall hire are now being taken for 2023, 2024 and beyond! And are still being handled by the same friendly team - so you can be assured of the familiar Wolterton warm welcome. 
 
Keith and Peter will be embarking on their next exciting adventure from October. Peter adds: “We’ve found one of the best houses in London: a six storey Georgian house overlooking St James’s Park which is currently offices, so we now have all the excitement of arguing with Historic England and the conservation officer about its restoration - since the house is grade I listed. However, we expect it will be a rewarding project.”
